Ang
Thong is a major source of food supply for Thailand, and
rich in natural resources, earning it the reputation as
a bowl of gold. This province is outstanding in terms
of cultural richness as reflected in the two beautifully-designed
reclining Buddha images. Ang Thong is also famous for
handicrafts as well as drum-making-enchanting professions
of the local people.

Wat
pa Mak Worawihan houses an old and
beautiful Buddha image in a walking posture. The gold-plated
image, made of brick and cement, is assumed to have been
built in the Sukhothai era. Visitors can reach this temple
by taking Highway 39.
Drum-making village on Highway
39, is, like the name suggests, a centre of drum making.
This village churns out drums of all sizes.
Wat Khun Inthapramun is an
old temple housing a serene-looking Buddha image in a
walking posture. To reach this temple, take Highway 3195
and continue on Highway 3064.
Rattan and bamboo product-making
village, on Highway 3064 in Pho Thong district,
is famous for excellence in the making of a variety of
hand-woven items made of rattan and bamboo.
Wat Khian is an old temple
featuring magnificent paintings on the walls of its church.
The painters are believed to be from Muang Wiset Chai
Chan , during the late period of the Ayutthaya era. This
temple is on Highway 3195.

Wat
Khoi's Wang Pla is a large pond
housing at least 50,000 fish and this for more than
50 years. Tourists can feed the fish in this temple
which is on Highway 3195. From the highway, turn right
to take a smaller road along the irrigation canal.
Wat chantharam's Large bats.
These have lived in the temple for many generations
along side numerous birds. The temple, within a thick
forest on Highway 3064, is open to visitors all year
round.
